On October 25, the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department hosted the 2014 Fire Safety Day at the Mall at Prince Georges. Participants could take part in a kids fire safety adventure course, get free blood pressure checks, try on firefighter gear, meet the firehouse mascot and more.
The fire department typically holds the event at the Belcrest Road fire station, but moved the event this year due to renovations of temporary quarters.
