The Purple Line, a light rail project to connect Prince George’s and Montgomery County, announced it is seeking professional artists and art teams to produce works of public art. The call to artists is directed at people who work with a broad range of media and work will be featured on fixtures such as walls, bridges, and water features.
The transit line, which will run locally through Riverdale Park and College Park, says they have identified 21 locations for their Art-in-Transit project. Artists who go on to complete works of art can receive a stipend of up to $3,500.
Construction on the Purple Line is expected to begin in 2015 and be completed in 2020. For more information, including how to apply, visit the Purple Line website.
