BY REBECCA BENNETT —  On July 10 at approximately 10 p.m., a man approached a woman from behind as she walked from the West Hyattsville Metro Station on Jamestown Road, according to Hyattsville City Police.  Police say the man demanded her cell phone and then tried to pull her into a nearby wooded area.  The woman struggled and the suspect fled into the woods.

The suspect in this assault is described as a a Hispanic male, 20-25 years old, 5″ 8″ wearing black pants, red shirt and white hat.

A second assault occurred on July 23.  According to officers, just before 1 a.m., a woman was walking on Hamilton Street near the Hamilton Splash Park when a man came out of the woods and approached the her.  According to police, the man said  “What’s up?” before he grabbed her by the shirt, threw her to the ground and began to rip off her clothing. The woman was abe to escape after fighting and screaming for help.  Her attacker then fled back into the woods.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic Male, 30-35 years old, 5’8″ tall, 170 lbs, with short black hair and dark brown eyes. Police say he was wearing a black t-shirt with a pocket on the left breast, blue jeans, and black and gray Nike shoes.
