PHOTOS: A bit of winter weather on a February day

Posted on: February 17, 2015

BY REBECCA BENNETT — Updated at 11:24 p.m. From Feb. 16 into Feb. 17, the Washington, D.C. metro region received several inches of snow. Unofficial snow totals outside the Hyattsville Life & Times mobile newsroom showed it was possible there was up to four inches of snow locally.

According to the City of Hyattsville, Department of Public Works crews were out all night treating city-maintained roads.

The winter weather closed and cancelled many activities Monday and Tuesday. The Hyattsville Life & Times is monitoring changes for Wednesday.

“Metro expects to restore normal bus service across the region on Wednesday,” the transit authority said. “Some routes may experience isolated delays or detours due to local road conditions, such as overnight refreezing or areas needing additional treatment.”

Prince George’s County Public Schools are operating on a two-hour delay Wednesday.

The Hyattsville Elementary school STEM Fair originally scheduled for Wednesday will be postponed until February 24.
