National Night Out closes Hamilton Street Tuesday

National Night Out Against Crime is schedule across the country on Tuesday, August 5.

The event is scheduled to close Hamilton Street between Queens Chapel and Ager Road for most of the evening.

National Night Out is s free event with many family activities.  According to the City of Hyattsville:

The city’s celebration is one of more than 15,000 taking place throughout the US.  The events connect neighbors and promote police-community partnerships.  More than 37 million people came out in support of safe and welcoming communities last year – come and be counted in 2014!

This year’s event opens at 5:00 PM.  Free family fun all night, including:

-Moonbounces
-DJ music and dancing
-Free snow cones and cotton candy
-K-9 demonstrations
-Meet police officers and law enforcement professionals from Hyattsville and around the region
-A performance by Mandy the Clown
-Face painting
-Fun craft projects
-Arrow Bike’s bike safety course for kids – please bring your own bike!

The event concludes with a Take Back the Night walk through the neighborhood.
