BY REBECCA BENNETT — According to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Green Line trains will run every 24 minutes from Friday, Jan. 23 to Sunday, Jan. 25.  Trains normally run every 12 minutes.

The delays are due to work being performed, which includes uoint elimination, track, fastener and insulator renewal between L’Enfant Plaza and Navy Yard-Ballpark., according to WMATA.

Most of the other lines will experience significant delays as well, running every 24 minutes also.  Check WMATA.com for a complete list of track work this weekend.

Metro says it is investing $5.5 billion on system improvements, which include new rail, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems, and more.
