City may add parking near Route 1

Posted on: November 10, 2012

BY PAULA MINAERT — Will there be more parking coming to Route 1? The city council has decided to apply for two grants totaling $1 million. The grants, said Mayor Marc Tartaro, will be used to acquire land on Hamilton Street on the east side of Route 1 and for demolition and other services preparatory to building a parking lot there. Then, depending on demand and funding, the city will look at the possibility of building a parking garage on that site.
