According to the Hyattsville Police Department, officers responded to a report of a body on the train tracks behind the 4600 block of Emerson Street at approximately 5:00am Saturday.

Police identified the deceased man as Clifton Jerry Pendergrass Jr.  The initial investigation showed Pendergrass was on the tracks and may have been intoxicated when a CSX train hit him.

Authorities also say the striking train hit the man and continued on.  CSX plans to review the video and provide information on the train that hit Pendergrass when it is found.
