BY REBECCA BENNETT — The Prince George’s County Police Department is searching for a suspect in a brazen attempted kidnapping in College Park. Authorities say that at approximately 6 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, a man tried to grab a University of Maryland student as she was getting out of her car.

The incident happened in the 4400 block of Hartwick Road. Armed with a knife, he attempted to drag the victim away, according to police, but stumbled, which allowed her to escape. Police say the victim was not hurt.

Police describe the suspect as a white man, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a red flannel shirt or coat, dirty fingernails and a foul body odor.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity is asked to call police at 301.699.2601.
