Franklins ice cream parlor is scheduled to open on October 7.
Over 30 homemade regular and vegan flavors will be sold as scoops and pints, with milkshakes, floats, and sundaes on the menu as well.
Located at the back of Franklins general store, the parlor will have a dedicated entry way at 5115 Baltimore Avenue and an entrance at the back of the store alongside the Trolley Trail.
When it opens, it will become the only ice cream shop in south Hyattsville.
The ice cream parlor will be the newest and boldest of Franklins business ventures. The idea for an ice cream parlor was announced in 2022 as Franklins began expanding its
general store.
Initially scheduled to open its door in the summer of 2025, Franklins ice cream experienced some delays that pushed the opening date back into the fall.
On Wednesday, September 24, Franklins sold individual pints of their homemade flavors to give customers a taste of the progress made they have on the ice cream before the parlor opens.
Popular in south Hyattsville for over three decades, Franklins is no stranger to innovative
business ideas that have strengthened the local community and attracted new customers.
Prior to their ice cream endeavour, Franklins opened a Tiki Bar in August 2020, which has been popular in summers since debuting.
With ice cream on the horizons, Franklins continues to redefine what it means to be an
“everything store” for the residents of Hyattsville.
