Wednesday, Dec. 3, the railroad crossing gate by the Riverdale Park Town Center MARC station at Queensbury and Lafayette was stuck down for hours in the afternoon and evening.

The gate blocked Queensbury Rd where it crosses the train tracks. Though no train was coming for much of the time, the gate backed up traffic in the area during school pickups and rush hour.

Workers at area businesses say the gate was down by 2:30, went up briefly around 4pm shortly after a repair crew arrived, and then went back down and stayed down until at least 6:30pm.

Streetcar Suburbs has reached out to WMATA and the Riverdale Park police station for more information, and will update this post if we learn more.
