BY REBECCA BENNETT — On Wednesday, March 2, all 534 students at Hyattsville Elementary School (HES) from preschool to 5th grade had a piece of art showcased at the school’s art show, according to art teacher Sarah Yazvac.
There were many new additions to the art show this year. “We transformed our library into a little music hall and enjoyed the wonderful music of local celebrity Audrey Engdahl and our PreK Teacher Bradford Heck,” Yazvac said.
Two interactive stations were set up, including a visual guestbook and a photo booth. Yazvac said it was a successful evening, including the fact that 328 cookies were eaten.
Yazvac began teaching at HES in the fall of 2014. She told the Hyattsville Life & Times last year that 2015 was the first time the school’s had an art show in a long time, because it had not had an art teacher.
