BY SAM STERN — Police Chief Douglas Holland introduced Hyattsville’s four new police officers at the Dec. 7 City Council meeting. Here are some details about the new members of the police force who will be serving the community.

Officer Edwin Ramirez
Hometown: Hyattsville
Alma Mater: Currently pursuing Bachelor’s at University of Maryland
Previous Employment: United States Marine Corp
Hobbies: Playing sports and weightlifting
Officer Matthew Cross
Hometown: Calvert County
Alma Mater: Lynchburg College, BA in Criminology
College Activities: Law enforcement internships, Rugby team
Hobbies: Golfing, motorcycles and spending time with family
