Welcome to the Streetcar Spotlight. I’ve seen two open daffodil clusters around town this week — have yours opened yet? Upload your enviable bulb pics in the comments of our respective Facebook posts (HL&T, CPH&N, & Laurel), and I’ll swoon over them while weeping frozen tears from my north-facing front yard (that still has SNOW ON IT). Also, anyone out there with a Leap-Day birthday? How did you cope as a kid?!
On Jan. 29, David Brosch was shivering as he stood on the roof of the parking deck at 3325 Toledo Road, just west of the Hyattsville Branch Library. Brosch, an environmentalist and University Park Sustainability Committee member, was braving the cold because the deck affords a great view of the Nine Pond project.
The park, which will replace 54th Place, a dead-end street south of Riverdale Road, will be similar to Hollywood Gatewood Park, the $1 million pocket park at the southeast corner of Baltimore Avenue and Edgewood Road.
