Forsaken Angels: Wolfpack Theatre Company presents “Forsaken Angels.” William Leary’s Maryland State Arts Council award-winning drama “Forsaken Angels,” introduces three characters forced into the horror that is sexual trafficking through a series of flashbacks narrated by two characters, Samantha and Audrey. We follow their stories as they struggle for survival in a harsh world that society often overlooks. This joint production is a designated benefactor of Community Crisis Services Inc.’s ‘DoMore24’ campaign focused on Mental Health in our community. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to CCSI for general operating support including hotline counseling, suicide prevention/intervention efforts and shelter opportunities for those in need. Please note that Forsaken Angels has strong, coarse language, sexual situations and graphic violence. Not appropriate for younger viewers. $20. Dogs for the Arts: Bring your favorite furry friend for a morning with fellow dog lovers. Contests include paw painting, best costumes, dog/owner look alike, and talent. All dogs must be on a leash and under the control of their owner. Dog owners under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. This event is free and prizes are awarded. Call 301.699.5440 to register. Port Towns Farmers Mercado: A sustainable swap and garden meet-up where you can swap and share gently used clothing, toys, home, and garden goods for free. Tool Series Part 2: Join Mark Wardlaw of BNV Remodeling for a hands-on class on power tools. He’ll discuss a variety of small power tools, including drills and saws. Learn the proper way to drill and cut different types of materials, and receive hands on demonstrations using the cordless/electric power drill and power saw. *Mark is a licensed contractor in DC and MD with more than 35 years of experience in the construction and remodeling fields. UP Spring Porchfest: PorchFest is a family-friendly community music event, appropriate for all ages. The focal points will be a variety of musical acts ranging from acoustic to electric, and solo to ensemble. Maps will be distributed at the various porches on Saturday. Arrow Bicycle Sunday Ride: Take a 32-mile, moderately paced ride that emphasizes group riding techniques. Natural Ink Demonstration: Come watch Keyholder Resident Artist Hannah Smith make inks from common plants and plant-based food waste! You will see how to extract colors and thicken the pigments, and then you can grab a brush and make your own mark on a collaborative artwork. Doll Study Club: Learn how to make your very own doll by joining the Riverdale Park Doll Study Club. Club Founder Emily Fanning shows girls ages 7+ how to make their own dolls, clothing, dollhouses and furnishings. Volunteer Jennifer Fairfax teaches knitting and other fabrics arts. Local artists show the girls how to make miniature paintings for their dollhouse, write a story for their doll, and use a sewing machine to make doll outfits.
