Ward 3 Community Cleanup Day: Join friends and neighbors on the third Saturday of each month to help clean the Duck Pond (University Hills Park) and Lane Manor Park. Third Saturday Readings: Monthly author reading hosted by Sid Gold. FREE refreshments provided. Three authors will read from their works. Doritt Carroll is a native of Washington DC. Her collection, “GLTTL STP”, was published by Brickhouse Books in 2013 and a chapbook, “Sorry You Are Not An Instant Winner” is forthcoming from Kattywompus. Barabara Westwood Diehl is the founding editor of the Baltimore Review. Her fiction and poetry have appeared in a number of journals. Bernard Jankowski is the author of two full-length collections of poetry: “The Bullfrog Does Not Imagine New Towns” (WWPH, 2001) and “Radio In The Basement” (Pond Road Press, 2013). He has three collaborations with the painter Ed Ramsberg: “Luminous Mud” (KarlysKline, 2007), “The Shamokin Monologues” (Banty, 2009) and the recent “Shadows Of The Monocacy” (Banty, 2017). “I Am Hyattsville” video shoot: Want to represent Hyattsville in a video? The city is creating a video called “I Am Hyattsville” to show the welcoming spirit of our community. If you’re interested in appearing in the video, or have questions, please email Rich Brown at rbrown@hyattsville.org with “I Am Hyattsville” in the subject line. The city is looking for people of all stripes, ages, hairstyles, heights, languages, and more. Participants will also receive a free “I Am Hyattsville” t-shirt after the shoot, while supplies last. 4-7 p.m., Vigilante Coffee  

Opening Reception: Material-Object-Form: Attaching meaning to the things around us among the most fundamental aspects of what it means to be human. We value many things not for what they are, but for where they came from, who gave them to us, or what they help us remember. Summer Saturdays Film Series: Each Summer Saturday Film Screening will include an outdoor screening of a film created by a local filmmaker and a Q & A segment. “Hermanas en Ruedas” by Amberly Alene Ellis ventures into a country in the midst of major socio-political change to continue conversations around gender, sexuality and autonomy. Through the underground skate scene, the film questions the future of Cuban subcultures and technology amidst a backdrop of international exchanges and a drastic shift in US and Cuba relations. $10. 7-9 p.m., Prince George’s African American Museum & Cultural Center, 4519 Rhode Island Ave., North Brentwood

Erica Rebollar & Friends in “40 and UP!”: In “40 and UP!,” Erica Rebollar of RebollarDance partners with ten eclectic professional artists over 40 years old to celebrate the works, wit and wisdom of age, featuring the best choreographers from the DC/Baltimore area plus critically acclaimed out-of-town guest artists. The show features work by Erica Rebollar, Helanius Wilkins, Sharon Mansur, Carol Hess-Vait, Dan Kwong, Sandra Lacy, Jack Kirven, Giselle Rusany, Malcolm Shute, and Maida Withers! Eileen Bernstein “No Place But Up” CD release: Come celebrate with award-winning indie singer-songwriter Eileen Bernstein at the next stop on her “No Place But Up” release tour. The musical influences on her latest album are nas wide-ranging as Katy Perry, Evanescence, Emerson Drive, Miranda Lambert and Alanis Morissette. Arrow Bicycle Sunday Ride: Take a 32-mile, moderately paced ride that emphasizes group riding techniques. Those new to group riding are welcome as we regroup throughout the ride so that nobody is left behind. Call 301-531-9250 to confirm the ride is happening. Father’s Day Beer Tasting & Tours at Riversdale: Celebrate dad, grandpa, or another special gentleman with a free guided tour of Riversdale. As an extra special treat, beer lovers can visit the tasting station, where a variety of brews will be available for sampling. Free tours are limited to one free tour with each paid admission.
