Forklift First Friday: Community Forklift is staying open late to turn into a pop-up market with a mystery sale, live jazz and blues, local artists, a magician, Honey’s Empanadas food truck, and craft beer & wine! Comunidad, Communauté, Community: An exploration of friendship, collaboration, identity, migration, and diaspora through ten years of international hip hop photography by Magee McIlvaine. Opening reception features live dj + freestyle cipher with local and international emcees including: Bocafloja (Mexico), Waterflow (Senegal), Dumi Right (Zimbabwe), Kokayi (DC), Baay Musa (Senegal), Dj Boo (NYC/Philippines), Self Suffice (CT), and Hired Gun (NYC). $5. 7-10 p.m., ReCreative Spaces, 3501 Perry St., Mount Rainier

Zodiak at the Listening Room: A young band is on a mission to gift their audience with an experience of intimacy. Zodiak boasts an audible experience: a sonic blend of existing genres like funk, rhythm and blues, and gogo. $15, free parking. 8 p.m., Brentwood Arts Exchange, 3901 Rhode Island Ave., Brentwood.

Skye Steele and Jean Rohe in the Listening room: Skye Steele spent the last decade in New York City forging a reputation as a musicians’ musician, working his way up from playing subway platforms to Carnegie Hall and collaborating with a dizzying array of artists. “A sure-footed young singer-songwriter,” in the words of The New York Times, Jean Rohe writes one-of-a-kind narrative songs, concerned as much with the internal world as with the external. Her songs, which range from fantastical riffs on old folktales to autobiographical sojourns, to “phonojournalism,” a genre of her own invention, have won recognition from the ASCAP Foundation and the New York Songwriters Circle. Spanish- English Storytime: Stories, fingerplays and songs will be presented in Spanish and English. For ages 3 to 5. Free. 11-11:30 a.m., Hyattsville Branch Library

Opening Reception: Matt Hollis at Otis Street Arts Project: Otis Street Arts Project is proud to announce an exhibit of the works of Matt Hollis, curated by Molly Ruppert. This retrospective exhibition, “Florilegia” an amalgamation of botanically inspired art, will be a farewell exhibit for Hollis as he will be moving to Los Angeles to pursue his Masters in Fine Arts. Sip & Sew: Join fellow sewing enthusiasts for a fun night of sipping wine and sewing. Each month, Three Little Birds hosts this get-together to make a small project and enjoy a glass (or two) of wine! This month will feature making rope bowls. Sunday, July 9

Arrow Bicycle Sunday Ride: Take a 32-mile ride, moderately paced that emphasizes group riding techniques. Those new to group riding are welcome as we regroup throughout the ride so that nobody is left behind. 9-11:30 a.m., ride starts at Arrow Bicycle, 5108 Baltimore Ave. 

Inaugural Double Down Kings All-City Invitational: ART BLOC DC and the Hyattsville CDC art hosting a whole-building, large-scale tagging exhibit at the soon-to-be-demolished Ginn’s Warehouse, just steps away from the West Hyattsville Metro Station. More than 60 artists will be on site. Residents of all ages can be a part of this limited-run, found-space art exhibition in Hyattsville. Noon-8 p.m., 5620 Ager Rd. (at the end of Lancer Drive).

Intro to Anatomy yoga workshop: Interested in knowing how the body works, moves, and reacts when we practice yoga or other activities? Learn about muscles, ligaments and bones and how they all work together in this full-day workshop. We’ll start with a yoga practice, learn key topics, and end with a light yoga practice.
