BY REBECCA BENNETT — A fire that began in the basement of a house in the 5700 block of 37th Avenue has displaced five adults living there, according to Prince George’s County Fire and EMS (PGFD).  The fire began at approximately 8 a.m. and spread to higher floors.

Authorities said the building was a single family  home that was converted into apartments.  The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to PGFD. The estimated loss in the fire is $30,000.

One firefighter suffered an ankle injury and was transported to a local hospital, PGFD said.
