Franklins catches fire

Posted on: July 3, 2023

Franklins Restaurant and General Store, located on Baltimore Ave, is closed until further notice, following a fire that occurred in the early morning hours of July 3.

According to a post on the Franklins Facebook page, the fire originated outside the building, not inside it. The restaurant hopes to reopen later in the week, while the general store will be indefinitely closed.

Baltimore Ave was closed in both directions for over an hour, according to emergency texts from the city of Hyattsville, while the firefighters battled the blaze.

No one was hurt in the fire, according to Franklins.
