UPDATE: Woman killed near Prince George’s Plaza Metro identified

By CAMILA VELLOSO — A 27-year-old woman was fatally wounded Tuesday night in Hyattsville, according to a police press release.
Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) identified the victim as Salina Rivera of 6210 Belcrest Road.
At approximately 7:55 p.m., officers from the Hyattsville City Police Department responded to multiple calls for reported sounds of gunshots, said Lt. Chris Purvis, a spokesman for the department.
Officers found Salina in the walkway suffering from gunshot trauma. Shortly after 8 p.m., Salina was pronounced dead on the scene, Purvis said.
PGPD’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation after Hyattsville Police had secured the area, Purvis said.
Detectives have not released suspect descriptions and no arrests have been made at the time. Police are still seeking a motive for Tuesday’s shooting.
Purvis said the incident “doesn’t appear random.”

Police responded to the sounds of gunshots on Tuesday night.
On March 12, at approximately 7:54 p.m., the City of Hyattsville Police Department (HCPD) received a call for the sound of gunshots at 6210 Belcrest Road, at the Mosaic at Metro Apartments. According to HCPD, officers found an adult female victim suffering trauma to the upper body. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after.
The Prince George’s County Police Department was notified and will be taking over the investigation.
