Woman groped on Magruder Park trail Thursday

BY REBECCA BENNETT — The Hyattsville City Police Department (HCPD) said a call came in Thursday morning about a man who had grabbed a woman’s buttocks on the hiker-biker trail in Magruder Park.  The incident reportedly happened around 7 a.m.

HCPD Spokesperson Lt. Chris Purvis said the command staff would meet to come up with an action plan on how to handle to sexual assault suspect.  Lt. Purvis also said HCPD’s investigative section would meet with Maryland-National Capital Park Police because of where the incident occurred.

“We will be reaching out to other jurisdictions to see if they have had similar incident to with the same suspect description,” Lt. Purvis said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late 20’s or early 30’s, medium complexion, medium build, with short and neat hair.  He was described as wearing green slacks and a blue shirt.
