If you are taking the Green Line this weekend, you may want to give yourself some extra time.  The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority says Green Line trains will operate every 22 minutes on Saturday between College Park and Branch Ave.  Trains are scheduled to operate at normal intervals on Sunday.

The Greenbelt Metro Station is closed both Saturday and Sunday.  Free buses will replace metro service between Greenbelt and College Park stations.

Metro advises riders to plan an extra 15 minutes into their trip to account for the shuttle bus, and that riders should consider using College Park as an extrance/exit point for the transit system instead.

According to WMATA, the work on the Green Line is being done to construct a new test track in preparation for the new 7000 series cars.

Work is being done on other parts of the metro system.  Check wmata.com for a complete list.
