Principal Toi Davis sent an email to parents at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon citing a water emergency at University Park Elementary School (UPES).

Davis told the Hyattsville Life & Times that a “pipe burst in a classroom this afternoon. The pipe has been repaired, water has been restored to the building, and the building will open at 7 a.m. tomorrow for staff and students.”

The incident happened while students were still in the building for an aftercare program.  According to Davis, school staff took precautions to keep students safe while dealing with the water situation.
