BY REBECCA BENNETT — The members of the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) are mourning the loss of beloved mascot, 6-year-old Hailey, who passed away peacefully on Jan. 1 after a brief battle with cancer.

Hailey was 16 weeks old when she came to HVFD from the Washington Animal Rescue League in April 2010 with her Rottweiler sisters, Rylie and Lilla.  Hailey is now chasing shadows with previous firehouse mascots Chile and Clyde.  Fore more photos and to read more about Hailey’s story, visit www.HVFD.com.
