City of Laurel residents who need help paying bills can apply for Thrive Prince George’s new Guaranteed Basic Income Program.

The two-year, $4 million guaranteed-income pilot program is aimed at fostering economic stability and mobility for families. The monthly cash payment will go to qualified applicants, in particular youth and  seniors with fixed incomes, with no strings attached or repayment requirements.

Thrive Prince George’s will provide a monthly stipend of $800 for 24 months to 50 individuals,  ages 18-24, who have aged out of the foster care system and to at least 125 seniors ages 60 and older.
