Police respond to armed robbery on Northwest Branch Trail

View Larger MapAccording to the Hyattsville City Police Department, on September 29 at approximately 8 p.m., a suspect armed with a knife approached a man walking near the Kirkwood Apartments in West Hyattsville.   The victim was on a bridge connecting the apartments to the Northwest Branch Trail when an unknown man approached him.

According to police, the suspect, who came from the trail, covered the victim’s mouth, told him he would stab him if he turned around, and then demanded his phone.  Police say, the victim complied and the suspect fled towards the trail.

The victim described the suspect to police as a short-haired black male with no facial hair and wearing a gray hoodie with blue jeans. Police say he is possibly armed with a knife.
