By KRISSI HUMBARD — Residents once again showed their love for Hyattsville during the city’s 133rd anniversary celebrations.
On the morning of April 27, residents lined city streets, waiting to see school groups, police cars and firetrucks, dance groups and candidates running for city council.
The Anniversary Parade left from Hyattsville Middle School and followed the street along 42nd Avenue, Jefferson Street, and Hamilton Street until it reached Magruder Park. Residents then enjoyed fair food, games and rides at the annual carnival. Again this year, Northwestern High School students held a Community Fair on Saturday afternoon, following the parade. On Saturday evening, residents listened to R&B music by N2N band and enjoyed beer from Calvert Brewing Company. The night ended with the sounds of “oohs” and “aahs” as colorful fireworks lit the night sky.
