BY REBECCA BENNETT — On Tuesday, March 1, staff and pre-K students through second graders at University Park Elementary School (UPES) celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The well-known author was born on March 2, 1904 and passed away in 1991.  March 2 is now known as Read Across America Day.

Decorations for the annual Dr. Seuss breakfast highlighted the works of Seuss, such as The Lorax and Cat in the Hat.  The event also included readings, songs and a fare of green eggs and ham.  Parent-volunteers also helped cook and dish up the infamous breakfast.
