Thoughts of spring were in the air at the Hyattsville Horticultural Society (HHS)’s Annual Seed and Garden Fair — now in its 10th year — on Feb. 2. Organizers had a wide selection of seeds from the Charles Hart Seed Company and Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, which were chosen by expert local gardeners to work well in Hyattsville gardens. Seeds for flowers, herbs, and vegetables — plus seeds for plants likely to bring bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects to gardens — were available, along with used gardening supplies and books, and informational pamphlets about gardening challenges. Attendees could also purchase homemade lunch and dessert items. Experienced gardeners from HHS were on hand to answer gardening questions.
