The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority announced its weekend schedule for the upcoming Labor Day holiday.

On Monday, September 1, Metro says:

     • Metrorail: The system will open at 7 a.m. and close at midnight. Trains will operate on a Sunday schedule. Passengers are advised of scheduled rebuilding work on the Red and Green lines. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking will be free at all Metrorail parking facilities.

• Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. Check bus timetables for details.

• MetroAccess: All subscription trips will be cancelled on Monday. Customers wishing to travel on the holiday should make a seperate reservation.

Additionally, WMATA says system rebuilding will affect the Green Line over Labor Day weekend.  They say Green Line riders can expect trains every 16 minutes through midnight Monday.

According to Metro, track work is being done on a rail tie, fastener and insulator between Prince George’s Plaza and Greenbelt.
