Man robbed at gunpoint while retrieving items from car

BY REBECCA BENNETT — According to the Hyattsville City Police Department, a man was robbed at gunpoint on in the 5300 block of 38th Avenue on Jan. 29.  The incident happened at just before 3:30 p.m.

Authorities said the victim had just returned home from work when he was approached by someone armed with a semi-automatic handgun.  The suspect made off with cash and a cell phone, but was unsuccessful at retrieving the victim’s car keys.  The suspect fled east on Hamilton Street, according to police.
