BY REBECCA BENNETT — The Weather Channel forecast called for partly cloudy skies until the mid-afternoon, but it began raining before 9 a.m. Tuesday. The rain could be heard pounding down and the reports of flooding weren’t far behind.
Responders rescued a motorist when a car stalled in the high water at East West Highway and Baltimore Avenue. This picture was captured by @djlopezva and shows the conditions at that intersection:
Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue responded to many rescue calls, including some that left many nearby families seeking temporary shelter:
#PGFDFLOODING started at about 930am after warning from NWS. About 2 dozen water rescues. 2 dozen homes displaced in Berwyn Heights.

And, the water rose so quickly, some furry friends were in danger:
4600 block of Tuckerman St in Riverdale had 2 dogs tied up in backyard with flooding water. Dogs in danger rescued by firefighters

Severe weather over the next few days make flash flooding possible.
