Local family in need of donations after fire destroys home

Posted on: February 10, 2015

BY REBECCA BENNETT — According to the Hyattsville Parent Teacher Association (PTA), the Portillos lost all of their belongings in a January house fire on Oglethorpe Street. The PTA says the family is leaving a hotel where they had been staying and moving into a rental space.

The PTA is asking community members to consider donating clothing, books, school supplies, toys, or money for groceries to the family.  A complete list of items needed, as well as a way to sign up to donate them, is located on the PTA website.
