Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department orders second new ambulance

Posted on: August 20, 2015

BY REBECCA BENNETT — The Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) said it’s expecting its second new ambulance to be delivered and in service in early 2016.

According to HVFD, they entered into a contract with Atlantic Emergency Solutions to purchase a 2015 Ford F550 XLT Ultramedic Type 1 ambulance from Road Rescue.  HVFD said the unit is expected to serve primarily as a basic life support unit, but upgraded to advanced life support as qualifed paramedic staffing permits.

HVFD said it will join a 2013 International Road Rescue Ultramedic ambulance, both units replacing 2003 models.

The volunteer fire department said it has added more than 30 EMT’s in the past 18 months.
