BY REBECCA BENNETT — According to Lesley Riddle, Hyattsville’s department of public works director, the City of Hyattsville has attempted to execute quarterly street sweepings.
At a May 28 meeting, Riddle said that a prior Hyattsville City Council gave up the street sweeper to Riverdale Park. She also said while it’s costly to maintain a street sweeper, it does provide environmental and asthetic benefits.
Currently, the city is borrowing the street sweeper from Riverdale Park on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Street Maintenance Supervisor Joe Buckholtz.
