BY KRISSI HUMBARD — The Hyattsville City Police Department (HCPD) reports that a string of armed robberies have occurred between Dec. 3, 2016, and Feb. 13. The department is urging residents to take precautions. Investigators indicate there have been eight reported incidents of armed robbery or attempted armed robbery of individuals.
The circumstances and suspect descriptions have all been very similar, which has led detectives to believe they are connected.
The robberies have occurred between the hours of 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. The victims have all been non-English speaking. The crimes have occurred in Hyattsville, between Queens Chapel Road, Hamilton Street and Ager Road. The robberies have occurred on weekdays, more frequently on Fridays.
The Hyattsville police department seeks your assistance in identifying the suspect of these crimes.
The suspect is described as a black male, who is 5-feet-8-inches to 6-feet tall and wears all black clothing with a hood covering his head. He carries a black semi-automatic handgun.
