Firefighters announce 2014 Santa Run schedules

Posted on: December 2, 2014

BY REBECCA BENNETT — The Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) says their yearly Santa Run has expanded from one nights to three!  Santa will cover 30 miles total from 6 to 8 p.m on Dec. 13, 19, and 20.

“This is our first year expanding this beyond a one-night program so please bear with us as we hope to grow this great fun experience for the kids in our community!”

HVFD says while these are the likely routes below, they cannot provide specific times or streets — spectators should be on the lookout for Santa’s sirens. Routes are subject to change as a result of time, weather, and emergency response needs.  HVFD says all schedule changes will be posted to Facebook.

Here are the tentative routes:

Saturday December 13th – 6-8pm
American Blvd, Toledo/Highview, University Hills & University Park

Friday, December 19th – 6-8pm
West Hyattsville, Gallatin/36th, Chillum/Queens Chapel

Saturday, December 20th – 6-8pm
Hyattsville b/w Queens Chapel, Route 1, East West & Farragut/Hamilton

HVFD asked parents to keep their children on the sidewalk or on their properties and to not approach the fire truck.

Anyone with questions can email santa@hvfd.com.
