BY REBECCA BENNETT — Most of us had an opportunity to eat Turkey on Thanksgiving, shop for deals during Black/Green Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.  According to its website, “#GivingTuesday was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation.”

According to Forbes.com:

“A lot of people get through the holidays, and there’s a sense that we want to find a way to connect more meaningfully to more people who don’t have as many things,” Timms said.  #GivingTuesday isn’t just about giving money—it can also include donations of coats and food, time and talent, or anything else people want to share with organizations that move them.

The Maryland Association of Nonprofits says it is on a mission to “make Maryland the most generous state” by launching the #MarylandGivesMore campaign.
