Riverdale Park to build new playground
The park, which will replace 54th Place, a dead-end street south of Riverdale Road, will be similar to Hollywood Gatewood Park, the $1 million pocket park at the southeast corner of Baltimore Avenue and Edgewood Road.
City proposes student housing subsidy
The College Park City Council has proposed a housing subsidy of $1,500 for each of 150 low-income University of Maryland undergraduates to help them rent apartments in high-rise Route 1 buildings.
Environmental committee leads sustainability efforts
City residents who care about the environment have been making a difference through the College Park Committee for a Better Environment (CBE) for over 50 years.
Established in 1972, the committee currently has 13 members, who are appointed by the mayor and city council for three-year renewable terms.
New signs mark county Civil Rights Trail
Since the last Black History Month in 2023, several locations along Prince George County’s Civil Rights Trail have received new signage and markers to help residents and visitors better understand what life was like from the 1940s to the 1960s when the county was legally segregated.
